Based on popular author Giddens Ko's semi-autobiographical novel of the same title, the story chronicles the year when his life was more like a movie than real life. The joy and sadness of a life time was crammed into one year. The year he won the Best Writer award was also the year the pillar of his family, his mother, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. The boys in the family had to pull their big boy pants up as they navigated through the confusing healthcare system, the painful chemotherapy, and the crushing medical debt.
