In Taipei, a rehearsal for Kafka’s Metamorphosis is in full swing as the show’s opening night approaches. After rehearsal, actor Lin picks up his girlfriend, Julie, who is flying in from Paris, from the airport. The two reunite and spend the night together. But, in the morning, Lin is nowhere to be found. Julie waits in Lin’s apartment. She has never been to Taiwan and she doesn’t speak Chinese. She is desperately worried. Lin’s theatre assistant, Pineapple, arrives also looking for him. Pineapple and Lin used to be lovers and Pineapple still has feelings for him.
