Maeng Jin Sa, the patriarch of a village household in the Chosun era, is obsessed with his social status and constantly schemes to elevate it. He arranges to marry off his daughter Gap Bun to Mi Eon, the son of Minister Kim. When a rumor spreads that his future son-in-law is crippled, he resorts to tricks to marry off his maid Ip Bun instead.
