In the past, Kawan was in love with Payrama, but she ran away with her lover. He ended up marrying her sister and they had a daughter named Karabuning. Years later, Karabuning's mother dies and Payrama breaks up with her lover and finds out that she's terminally ill. Kawan moves her into his house and she accepted his help because of Parin, her son. She doesn't know that Kawan still has feelings for her. But since he can't be with her, taking care of her is enough.
Karabuning or Khun Khon Lek is a self-willed and spoiled daddy's girl. She's always been loved by everyone, but that changes once Parin enters her life. She's scared that he will steal her father's love. Parin acts as a big brother and takes care of her, even if she's mean to him.
When Payrama died, Kawan wanted to take care of Parin for her, but Parin didn't want to bother him. His constant fights with Lek also drove him away. He sent his father a letter asking to live with him. Lek is angry that he's moving out and tries to stop him, but he still left.
When Khun Lek grows up, she doesn't care about Parin anymore. Even when he sends her a letter or a present, she ignores it. But her father and the servants at the house still love him and miss him. That makes her even more angry.
