Tampopo is a celebration of the role of food in Japanese culture. Acclaimed director Juzo Itami's (The Funeral. A Taxing Woman) hit satire was dubbed the first "noodle western" for its delightful pardoy of American Westerns and Japanese samurai films. Tampopo follows a young widow (Nobuko Miyamoto) who runs a small noodle restaurant in Tokyo and Goro (Tsutomu Yamazkai), a cowboy hat wearing truck driver, as a they attempt to devise the perfect bowl of top ramen. - From DVD

A truck driver stops at a small family run noodle shop and decides to help their fledgling business. The story is intertwined with various vignette scenes on the theme of "the love of food." - IMDb
