Sawai Takako is a Japanese actress born in Osaka. Her sister is the actress Sawai Keiko. She worked at the Yajima Satoko office, and belongs to the Takarai Project.

In 1964, when she was in the third year of junior high school, she moved to Tokyo with her sister who entered the entertainment world. When she was in her third year of high school, she was selected as a "Miss Kimono" and she began to pursue the entertainment world.

She entered Toho Entertainment Academy at the same time as graduating from high school in 1968. After that, she became a research student of the theater company Un, and made her debut in the 1970 TV drama "Daikon no Hana".

In 1975, she participated in the founding of the theater group Yen. She mainly appeared in TV dramas, and even after she left Yen in 1985, she was active as an actress.
