Zhu Zhuis a singer and actress born in Beijing, and the granddaughter of revolutionary hero Zhu Xu Zhi, a Red Army Major General of the the People's Liberation Army who participated in the Long March during the 1930's.
Zhu Zhu graduated from Beijing Technology and Business University with a major in electronics and information engineering. She then entered Parson's School of Design in New York. After graduation she returned to China and began working for MTV China in 2005 where she got her start in the industry as a VJ. She signed with MBOX in 2007 and released an album in 2009. Zhu Zhu is known for her work as an a actress in both the American film industry and in China. Her American filmography includes such films as Shanghai Calling starring Daniel Henney, Cloud Atlas, The Man With The Iron Fists, and the Netflix TV series Marco Polo.
Zhu briefly dated Lapo Elkann, heir to the Agnelli family empire which owns Fiat Automobiles and Italian football club Juventus, from 2012 to 2013.
