Liu Wei, born in Changchun of Jilin Province, is a Chinese actor and a first-class actor of the National Theatre of China. He was interested in literature and art since childhood, In 1974, he was admitted to the student class of Jilin Provincial Folk Art Troupe to study crosstalk. In 1980, he was admitted to the performance department of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. After graduating in 1984, he was assigned as an actor to the Actors Troupe of Changchun Film Studio.

In 1983, he made his debut appearance in the film "Impression of Autumn" and began to emerge gradually. In 1988, he won the 10th Xiaobaihua Awards Feature Film Outstanding Actor Award for his role in "Heroine of Guanzhong". In 1993, he won the Best Actor Award at the 10th China TV Golden Eagle Award for his first leading role in the historical drama "Tang Ming Huang".
