Two Taiwanese girls, Jade (Elaine Jin) and Suk-ling (Tsai Chin) come to Hong Kong and befriend Hong Kong model Billie (Irene Wan). All of them share the same quest for fame. They come across a handsome young man Jean Cheung (Tony Leung) and he immediately falls for the gorgeous Billie. After celebrating Jade's birthday, Suk-ling is murdered on her way home. Inspector Lan (Chow Yun Fat), a lonely divorcee, starts to investigate the case and gets to know these three young people. The love triangle among Jade, Billie, and Jean marks Love Unto Wastes as a romance, but the unresolved murder case enriches the film with a mysterious dimension. (YesAsia)
